EASIER ALBUM & TOUR
An eccentric, colorful album cover and corresponding tour poster for 5 Seconds Of Summer’s single, Easier.
Tasked with creating an album cover and tour poster, I immediately got to work creating a design that encapsulates the vibe of the song I was assigned. Easier, is an edgy, rock-inspired love song, written by the pop-rock band, 5 Seconds Of Summer. Both designs needed to be cohesive with each other, make sense in the context of the band, and the single as well.
While brainstorming for the album cover, I landed on the idea of featuring an anatomical heart as the focal point of the cover. I illustrated a simple line drawing of the heart, and added a glow to make it pop. Focusing on my typography to pull the cover together, and help bridge the gap between the album and poster, I found a groovy decorative font for the song title. The title needed to be the first thing the viewer noticed after the vibrant city catches their eye, so I placed it behind the skyline and scaled it to the width of the poster. I incorporated the Boston skyline as the main element by using various different layer styles together. The result of my process, is two cohesive designs that communicate the edgy, pop-rock, vibe of the song.
